everyone has there own opinion about where they live. it all depends on how you make it what you can do to maintain the problems. if you really like the apartment from you seen on your own then i would just take thee chance to find out for yourself. don't always use what other people say to make the decision for you. just take there thoughts into consideration. when you see it for yourself then you should make the final call.

to fix your garbage disposal yourself: turn water on, turn off disposal, take a large spoon (wooden if you have it) stick it in the disposal turning a few times, remove the spoon, reach under the sink, on the bottom of the motor you will find a red reset botton, press it, now the water is still running, so turn on the disposal switch. I'm pretty sure it's going to work. Garbage disposals get stuck because of non-use or because you are not turning the water on before you put food in it.

I felt the same way when moving into the apartment I live in now and I love it. People said it was horrible, filled with rats and roaches, and in horrible condition, but it is actually one of the best apartments I have ever stayed in for a affordable price. You are the only one who can make that call. You should, however, take what you read seriously and investigate. Ask questions and make sure you see YOUR apartment before signing the lease that way you can inspect it for yourself. Most importantly, go off your instinct, it's usually right :-)
