I live on the 2nd floor of an apartment building. I do not hear anything from across the hall, nor anything from downstairs, since no one lives there, yet. But I hear noises from all over the neighborhood, in the street, everywhere, through the closed win

Well, I'm kind of in the same situation except the marriage problems. I am trying to get out of my lease as well but I have been staying in my apartment for like 9 months, and my lease is up in April, but I want to move by the first of March because I found a home that I'm ready to move into, and that is when it will be ready. You can offer to pay off the rest of your lease like I did, and see if that will help. I asked to pay off my lease so that I could move since it would only be a month left in my lease that I would need to pay off, and I just have to pay a reletting fee, and I can go ahead and move ask your landlord if this is possible. If you really want to move see if you can pay the lease off for the rest of the term you are there,

Personally, I would get a head hpone set and play music and listen to it when I know my tolerence is low. If you like jazz, I would prefer it over any music and if you that doesn't work, MOVE! From what I see on T.V, there's not too many quiet moments where you live anyways. If i'm wrong, then start picking out you some jazz or blue grass music. I'm originally from Cincinnati, Ohio and I can relate to the non stop of noise and that's what I did. I even used to workout sometimes listening to the music. You know the old saying,"if you can't beat them, join them" Wish you the best and hope you can find a place of comfort soon.
