Review for Normal Hills Apartments

Convenient, yes…..but that’s about it. The grounds are horrible. The only time the grounds are clean is when someone important from the school is going to be there and that’s only 3 times a year……do the math, 375 minus 3 – 372 days of trashy grounds. The staff…..ha, what staff?! The CAs (Community Assistant) don’t do a thing and the management staff has NOOOOO clue on what they’re doing! Believe me….I use to work there. I worked there and stayed there so you get a little bit from the inside looking out rather than the outside looking in. It’s the biggest rip off ever. The management has been horrible from jump street. They keep changing this and that at the school and with all of the changes the school was trying to make….they wanted to change Normal Hills by taking over the responsibility. They should have left NH under the management of Allen & O’Hara. Even they had a difficult time, but that’s only because the manager of the property was lying back to corporate and corporate thought everything was okay at the property……A&O’s fault, but the truth finally came to the light and management was….how you say….dismissed because of poor performance….duh. Management was bad, but is now even worse. They have no clue. Residents are staying for free, the residents don’t understand the pet policy when the contract states “no pets allowed on property”, SWACK (SWAT aka on campus police) doesn’t care and NH is a playground for them, the vice president of institutional advancement (the one who oversees the general property manager of NH) lives on the property [ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!!!]. He is getting 6 figures and getting free rent?! C’mon people. The head accountant of the property just resigned right before they were audited. I could write about this for days……
ALL the buildings have leaks. Some units have the same carpet and furniture as it did when the apts were built (2001). No full time maintenance on staff, but the one they got (Jeff) is the hardest worker in the state of Alabama and the sidekick that used to work there (Veen) was a hard worker too and they gave them nothing to work with. No money. Wasp nests. Black pool……and I’m not lying. Matter of fact…..ask any of the CAs that work there. They’ll tell you straight up! They know they don’t do anything and they know the property is messed up. What can you do? Not move there……unless you want the best convenience, only as far as distance is concerned. You’re better off sleeping in the dorm or on the roof of the dorm. Just get a tent and post up on the quad. They also got a little shelter up by the stones on the yard. It’s sad they are building a fitness center right next to the projects…..a damn shame.
