Review for Meadow Lake Apartments

Everyone in this town actually calls Meadow Lake Apts the "Ghetto Lake Apts"! The management is terrible. They dont care about anything that goes on in the complex, they just want your money. They will not help you fix even the smallest thing. It took them 2 months to get a working washing machine for me, and then when it finally came in I had to move it and install it myself. The paint job is terrible inside the rooms. The carpet in my apt needed to be replaced before I moved in. I asked them many times to please put in new carpet because it smelled bad and had tons of stains but they refused. Lots of Katrina refugees still live here. Its very noisy all the time. Its very dark here at night. Not very good lighting so there is lots of crime i.e. drug dealing, theft, violence, prostitution. My downstairs neighbor was in fact dealing crack from his apartment. I was very paranoid someone would rob me the entire time I was there. I stayed there alone for about 7 months. During my stay i noticed the police showed up almost daily. Some of the occurences that took place while I was there include: a drunk man shooting off a pistol inside his unit, several car accidents, several thefts (even from the dumpster), a home made pipe bomb was found in one unit, numerous domestic violence cases, drug deals gone bad, etc...The only good thing about this place is that its cheap and they will rent you some cheapo furniture for about $50 more per month. A single bedroom is $300. Also, the "refundable" deposit was $150 but no one ever gets more than $30 of that back if any at all. **Since I have moved out New Management has taken over and I have heard they are a little better than the last managers. However, Ghetto Lake has had dozens of managers over the last decade and it has not changed yet.
