Review for Regency Tower Apartments

Rent is not bad for a place close to San Francisco, but pretty high for the area and the complex itself. They keep as much of security deposits as possible, and even more, count every little thing and would charge you for everything plus. If you get a pet, the additional deposit you pay ($500) is not called a pet deposit, so the management can keep as much of your money as they can after you move out. Management is not really friendly, neither very bright. Floors are never being cleaned. Windows are never cleaned from outside (it's a high tower, and it's impossible for tenants to clean windows themselves). It's always incredibly hot in summer (no a/c) and extremely cold in winter, and heaters don't help it at all, besides, the higher you live, the worse the draft is. Water warms up forever. Bathrooms are so small, even door wouldn't open wide enough without hitting the toilet. It always smells from other apartments, and it's usually some disgusting Asian food. They don't allow smoking in apartments, but someone always smokes in the bathroom, and you CAN SMELL it. Besides, if your apartment is close to a dumpster room, you will always feel a very strong trash rotten smell. Nothing helps it: they don't clean the thing. The remote key for garage and other doors never works properly, sometimes you have to try for minutes till you open the door, and it's getting annoying, especially if you hold a heavy bag or when you are on a street in front of the garage door. There is never room to park outside the building, so your friends when come visit you, have to drive around the neighborhood to find a parking spot. The neighborhood itself is not really safe. You always hear police siren. And, yes, it's so loud outside, you can hear just about every sound, no matter how high your floor is. Management supposed to be in the office 9 to 6, but they leave for hours, it is really annoying, when you need to get a package in the morning and are late to work, but no one is coming at 9, 9:10, 9:20, and you wait and wait, and wait. The building is really old, and they constantly have problems with pipes. The carpets are stained, and they don't replace them, but they will charge you for cleaning or even replacing even if you didn't stain them. There is a huge problem with some tenants who are dirty and really weird: I have seen one apartment being cleaned, it was a disaster, all black and dirty, complete trash. Garage spots are very small, you barely can squeeze in, always scared if you scratch your neighbors' cars. They have a gym, but I am not sure if it can be called that, there are 2 cardio machines, which are always busy, and one power combo, where you can do only couple exercises. The pool is spooky, cause tenants swim in it with their dirty t-shirts on, and I didn't even try a spa, I care about myself. They never clean the laundry room, there is always trash on the floor.

With all that being said, I believe that no view (it was the only good thing) is worth the disaster I went through. Don't recommend unless you are desperate to get a place.
