Review for Saticoy Gardens Apartments

Overall, this apartment community is a pretty pleasant place to live. I've lived here 3 years and thus far I haven't had a problem that hasn't been resolved quickly and to my satisfaction.

Safety: Overall, management takes great care to make sure the residents keep safe. The complex is gated with limited access. I myself have locked myself out of the complex on a few occasions and became completely frustrated trying to get back in without my key. The parking garage is also gated, and CCTV cameras are in place as well.

Parking is ample, with assigned spaces, however there is very limited guest parking. There are four leasing office spaces that become first-come first-served after 7pm, and if those are full guests must park across a fairly busy street.

The appearance of the building makes it seem like a diamond in the rough. The surrounding buildings and homes aren't as maintained, but this community looks great. It got a fresh coat of paint in 2006, and landscaping comes through every Wednesday. The building itself is in great condition, and kept very clean. The pool was renovated in 2006 with new surfaces and coping.

The resident manager, Kay, is definitely a no-nonsense type. I've never had a problem (we're actually pretty darn friendly), however other residents have taken issue with her attitude in the past. Generally speaking, if you're a pain-in-the-neck tenant, she'll treat you like it. If you treat her and the building with respect, it'll be returned to you.

Maintenance staff are here just about every day to take care of both common-areas and private units. Maintinance requests are generally taken care of within about a week, and there is an emergency maintenance number available if something requires emergency attention outside of business hours (running water that won't stop, broken windows, etc).

I can't speak for all the units in the building, but my unit was in great shape moving in. Fresh paint and the carpet was cleaned. Some units get fresh carpet if it's worn out enough.

The noise level is what you'd expect at any apartment complex. Most of the time it's quiet. Being on the first floor, I can hear the movement of the tenants above me, and the occasional loud party has been thrown.

Overall, I've enjoyed living here. I'd recommend it to just about anyone.
