Nice Units Yet Terrible Move In Conditions

Brand new apartment complex yet apartment had not even been cleaned since the construction crews had come through. Even found nails & screws on the floor. Layer of construction dust on everything.

AC unit wasn't working (and of course no one is able to fix the AC unit over the weekend so I had to wait 2 1/2 days in 90+ degrees).

Had the windows open for any source of air yet kept getting woken up by african american guys yelling & fighting outside in the parking lot for over 45 minutes.

No hot water the day I moved in. Office personnel is nice & tries to be helpful, yet any real help seems out of their control... as they rely on outside specialists.

Maintenance guys within the complex do an awesome job, very quick & responsive & as nice as can be yet there is only so much they can do but important things (such as the AC not working) are left to specialists and they're unable to help at that point. But if it's something they can do, they're usually out immediately and are quickly able to fix the problem, something I'm very impressed with.

As for noise, you can hear not only people within your own building walking around the halls, but in the next building over as well! Every time some one comes & goes from their apartment, all the other apartment doors rattle as well (I have a oscillating fan to help block out the noise but can still hear & feel the other apartment doors slamming). Stairway doors are even worse. They slam with a vengeance so bad that it leaves my ears ringing for quite some time. It's extremely annoying as it wouldn't take much to just fix the doors so that they shut quietly or with less force anyways. They slam so hard that pieces have actually fallen off the door!

I'm disappointed that such little effort is made to make sure the simplest of things are working before someone moves in. Such as the AC, hot water, & that faucets and such are working properly. A quick clean up after the construction crew has finished building the apartment would be nice as everything had that thin layer of dust on it. There were also dead moths & bugs around the windows that it seems should have been cleaned up before move-in.

I understand that these are brand new apartments, which are very nice once things are working, but just checking to make sure the basic of things are working would go a long ways in my book! Rather than making a first move-in impression in the middle of the summer without AC such a disappointment.
