You get what you pay for, that's all I can say. The building is a dump, and it is next to impossable to get anything fixed in anything near a timely manner. The walls are thin as paper, be ready to know EVERYTHING about your neighbors. You have no control over the heat, so you are always either freezing, or so hot that you are dying in the middle of the winter. The ONLY thing the building has going for it is the location, its in a good part of hamden, so crime really isn't a problem. Which is a good thing, since the 'security' door in the back is often left unlocked or propped open. Over all, the cheapness of the rent is nowhere near worth the cheapness of the building.
