Review for Springville Mill Apartments

The apartment interiors in this converted mill building are very nice. Fresh carpeting and exposed brick walls are amenities you will not find everyday. The kitchen and bathroom cabinets are older, but still in good condition, as is the vinyl flooring. Units are freshly painted and clean upon move-in. However, there are trade-offs. The huge windows do not open and close very easily, and have flaking paint. Storm sashes installed on the inside of the window frame do not always work properly, or necessarily have the correct size screen or glass. The common area maintenance leaves something to be desired. Cleaning of hallways and elevators is virtually non-existent, and can smell at times. The parking lot could be better lit but it seems okay for the most part. There is an evening security guard and 24 hour emergency maintenance. The maintenance staff is nice, although somewhat bumbling. Building residents are friendly, but the surrounding neighborhood is somewhat of a mixed bag. Noise travels very easily through the walls, which is usually only a concern in the evenings and weekends. Heat is included, which is essential since the building doesn't seem very well insulated. It really depends what you are looking for, since you need to make some tradeoffs here.
