We started our lease at Peppertree in August of 2006. I read some of the reviews here at that time, keeping in mind the usually people don't leave reviews unless they are upset. Happy people don't write reviews. Well, given the extensive service that Peppertree has given to us, I wanted to write a favorable but honest review.

Service - first, the service was great at Peppertree. We had packages delivered to the office numerous times. They would sign for these packages and hold for us. The secretary in the office actually opened the door for our furniture delivery when we couldn't be there to sign for it. Maintenance was adequate, and was performed in a reasonable amount of time. The one maintenance guy would wash your car (if you paid him of course) on the weekends if you wanted. Finally, we moved from this apartment to a house. Needless to say, timing the end of a lease with the start of a mortgage can be great. Our lease was set to expire on August 24, and they offered to give us either an extra week in September or the whole month of September as an extension. We didn't end up needing the extra time, and they actually didn't charge us for September at all. Amazing.

Facilities - These apartments are not new, but they are well maintained. We had no issues with mold or anything else. Most apartments face woods, so you feel as though you are not in a city, even though I-95 is pretty close (within 2 miles). The grounds were well taken care of (and in the late fall, you can find wild grapes behind the apartment complex). The pool/fitness facility is clean and convenient. Washers and dryers are about $2.20 per load each, which is a little pricey for the area. An exercise facility on the top floor of the laundry building has two treadmills, a bike, and a stair master. Sometimes one treadmill was broken, but usually they were both working.

Parking - There was always parking. Each apt has one spot, but the visitor parking always had spots and they don't require visitor permits.

Noise - You really don't hear much. My wife, a professional musician who plays the horn, never received complaints from the neighbors. You CAN hear a french horn through the wall, but we never heard TVs or loud noises.

Construction - Fine. The layout for the 2 bedroom apartments was a separate entrance way, followed by individual doors up or down a flight of stairs.

Location - Location is great. Easy access to I-95 in about 2-3 miles. Across the street from the complex is the municipal complex, containing the cable company. Fairly close is a sports park with little league baseball all summer.

I would recommend Peppertree apartments to anyone coming into the area. You could pay 400-500 more per month and get a brand new apartment with new facilities anywhere nearby. Instead, if you are looking to stay in the Groton area and save for a house (like we did), then staying here is a bargain.
