Review for Brittany The Apartments

The only thing these vultures are interested in is $$$. Of all the places in different states I have lived in, The Brittany ranks the lowest. Suffice it to say, the name should be the "Rip N Me," rather than the Brittany. It is a total rip-off.

I would begin with the staff, but I don't feel that they rate highly enough to begin with them, as they are the force behind all the incompetency.

Security is non-existant. My suggestion is to be armed and ready or purchase a home security system. There is a gate but it is inoperable. When I first moved in, it was hanging from its base. It's merely a show-piece. I have never witnessed any form of security upon the property.

Parking is ample. There isn't an area officially designated for visitors, nor is there assigned parking. They do need more Handicapped parking spaces.

The appearance and upkeep needs extensive improvement. I was told that if the trash was not placed inside the dumpster, there would be repercussions. Evidently this threat did not deter my neighbors as I personally witnessed at least 30 bags lying beside the dumpster in one given day. Furniture and other large items are placed beside the dumpster and remain in viewing area for weeks at a time. This is right beside the road where everyone can see this eyesore on a daily basis.

Maintenance is scary! I had to advise the maintenance regarding an appliance repair. He had to return on three different occassions for the same appliance. Finally, he caved in and agreed with my diagnosis which resulted in a replacement. I might also add that maintenance is allowed to enter your apartment whether you are there or not! Everywhere else I've lived there was always a notification (at least) as to the day and time that maintenance would arrive. On one of these occassions, I was sick in bed due to my disability. Being a female, I was mortified. He was very fortunate that I did not have my handgun close to me on that day!!! I don't trust anyone that I don't know inside my home when I'm not there! Its your word against their's.

Condition of unit is atrocious! I was shown the unit before it was "ready." It looked the same when I moved in. Upon closer inspection I found that absolutely nothing had been changed. The cabinets were complete spray painted and so were the kitchen and bathroom counters! UNBELIEVABLE! The moment you wipe the countertops, paint begins to bubble up! The kitchen and bathroom floors were also spray painted.
The bathtubs and sinks were spray painted! You can easily see all the filth, stains, muck, and hairs dried into the paint! I have never lived in anything so gross and creepy in all of my lifetime! The tubs and sinks are also clogged from all the paint and probably filth left behind from previous tenants. I guess management just sends in a painter with a spray gun and he lets loose. That is their definition of cleaning. Then they reserve the right to retain a portion of the deposit for cleaning expenses when you move out! How is that for thievery? The oven was not cleaned and the refrigerator was dirty. I had to clean the entire place before I could even begin to unpack. If they shampooed the carpet, they must've used a bucket of water and a water-vac. As soon as we walked over it and the carpet smoothed out, stains were present everywhere. The door handle to the guest bedroom was still hanging off too. Nothing had been done to make the apartment ready. It was just plain NASTY!!

Then there is the problem of the lizards! "Leapin Lizards" that is. There are literally thousands of them. Just try to take a walk around the lake, down the sidewalk. Just try to open a window to let a cool breeze in after a rainfall. Just try to leave your door open long enough to get your groceries in! I had one leap out at me from the trunk of my car as well! The place is infested with them. If you are brave enough to move there, don't ever walk through your apartment at night without a light on unless you don't mind squishing one under your foot!

The noise level was hardly noticeable because I was constantly so busy cleaning and repairing I didn't have time to notice.

Last but not least...the office staff...management...(merely a title, not a qualification), is nothing more than an unconcerned, never-wrong, self-important, incompetant, rude, unapologizing, arrogant bunch of mouths. They have no pride in there jobs or integrity. They will not admit even a clerical mistake or at least apologize for any inconveniences they may cause or inflict upon the residents. Be ready to bow down, grab your ankles, and while assuming this position, walk in backwards so you will be ready.

Rather than "run and don't look back" as an Overall Rating, I would advise you not to even "look!" I would not recommend these apartments as place for dogs to be boarded in. Not if you love your pets!
