Review for Stonecastle Apartments

My boyfriend and I lived at Stonecastle from May 2007 until December 2008. There were numerous things that we were displeased with while living there, such as college kids keeping us up all hours. (We never complained about the many noise violations as we were once college kids and can understand. Please note if you are a working professional; really not a good place to live. If you are in college; still not a good place to live.) My biggest issue is that Stonecastle is not giving us our security deposit back. They billed me for erroneous charges stating that they had to do an "appliance cleaning" as well as a carpet cleaning. They sited "pet damage" for the carpet cleaning. We did not have pets and I personally cleaned all of the appliances prior to leaving. I have lived in many apartments the past 15 years and have never once NOT gotten my security deposit back. When I received the notice that we were not getting our security deposit back in mid January 2008 I immediatley wrote a two page letter and faxed it over to the office. I waited two weeks and called to follow up as no one contacted me. I called twice a week for four weeks asking the office assistant to have the manager call me. (The poor office assistant!) After about a month of this with no return phone calls I apologized to the office assistant and informed her that I was going to call EVERY SINGLE DAY until the manager called me back. After two days of this the manager, Lourdes, finally got on the phone and said, (abruptly and not at all apologetic for never calling me back) that I would be getting my deposit back. That was in March. It is now May 20th and shockingly I still do not have my deposit back.
I am so unbelievably sick of calling them and know that my $300.00 is not worth the minutes on my Verizon bill let alone the frustration, but it is now about the principle. The most recent excuse is that "There have been a lot of changes here and people are really learning their jobs." To that I asked "For five months'" The manager then asked that she only deal with my boyfriend going forward... I thought that was funny as my boyfriend has been telling me to have my sister, who is a lawyer, contact them about two months ago. I tried to politely explain to her that she really did not want my boyfriend to call as I am, in this case, a much calmer option. She then said that she would call her management company and "get back to me." I said that I would appreciate that. And so I continue to wait for my phone to ring and my minutes to be wasted again by false promises and and a truly unethical management company.
If you are reading this, please don't live there. It is my way of feeling like I got something back by saving another person from this frustration. Goodness knows I will never see my security deposit.
