Review for Highland Lake Apartments

I have been living here for 6 months and my apartment was broken into. This is the third one in that month. Security with the gate is not what it appears and that anyone can get in. Decatur police are useless in terms of finding culprits, and I suspect that there are people on the inside either living in the apartment complex or working here as staff that may be connected. Apparently every year, there are approximately 2 robberies in this complex. This being Atlanta and being an easy target since most people leave for school or work during the day where most of the crimes take place. There is no security guards on duty only maintenance people who look out from time to time.

In terms of the apartment, it may look new, but it is cheaply built. If you see multiple locks, then the apartment has been broken into before. Chain and bolt locks are not standard and neither is an alarm. There are from time to time ant problems which can't be solved, it is the nature of the property we live on. Also the trash dumpster is far if you live in the corner apartments. This becomes annoying from time to time since there is only one location in the entire complex to dump trash. Dumping at closer locations such as the clubhouse will get you fined (not in the contract but done anywway).

The office has a decent manager but his personnel in particular the three girls are rude and stupid. Especially rude, several people have asked for them to be fired, but its hard to find apparently secretaries nowadays in this economy; especially good ones.

All in all, there are several apartments offering similar amenities and such at similar prices. I would recommend those in retrospect.
