Review for Colonial Colony Llc Apartments

I'd like to share a story with anyone considering renting through Colonial Colony, LLC, here in Lawrence. Let me start by saying this letter concerns the properties at Hideaway Apts. at 941 Louisiana, which are very nice and spacious 1-2 bedroom apartments with a parking lot.
This post is in response to my not being offered a renewal to stay at my apartment and then not even being informed until my apartment started being shown to prospective renters. At the beginning of the year, while I was out of the state working, a friend got in an argument with his drunken girlfriend and removed himself from the situation by leaving his apartment and staying at mine. That afternoon, one of the property managers heard a dog barking form my apartment. Dogs are not allowed at Hideaway apartments for even a second to visit. This rule was unbeknown to my friend and the dog being in my apartment was unbeknown to me. After the property manager politely asked my friend to remove the dog, he did immediately. Following this incident, Mr. Hicks, one of the property managers here at Colonial Colony, then try to levy a fine of $3,000 against me, $500 for each of the six months I had been living in the apartment, supposedly with a dog and had given me a 14-day notice of lease violation which I assumed meant I had been evicted. Mr. Hicks accused me of having a dog in the apartment for six months despite not a single complaint from neighbors about a supposed dog.
Ultimately, the issue stalemated until people started showing up at my apartment as prospective renters/buyers a week ago. After a failure in response to my e-mail concerning the situation, Mr. Hicks informed that because of the incident with the dog, I was not being offered a renewal lease. I know of two tenants in this same complex, two women, who have a cat, which is legal, but for which they don't pay an increase in rent, which is stipulated for cats. Is that fair? I've been a responsible tenant, paid my rent every month and am quiet as I live by myself. I spend a third of my time traveling for work and I feel as though I was given the "shaft" in this situation.
Ultimately, I'd just like to share this story with people who might be considering renting from Colonial Colony, LLC., because I just don't agree with the way I was treated and I would hate for this to happen to other people.
