Review for Brookside Apartments

When I moved into this property in 1994, it was well-managed and maintained well. However, a few years after I moved in, the original owner sold the complex to a national management company. The complex has gone through many managers and the turnover rate for maintenance staff is high.

Under the old management, maintenance requests were completed in a timely manner by competent staff. That changed when the company was sold to Brookside Properties. Their main focus is filling the apartments with paying residents and not caring to retain the ones they currently have. This past spring, they had seven crew members planting flowers and painting the building exteriors, but only ONE working maintenance person to make repairs for all of the units. They seem to care about the facade and making the outside look presentable, while letting the units go to the dogs.

Under the old management, new residents were screened and only decent people allowed to live here. Under new management, they let anyone in. So the complex has been filled with people who like to party and play their music loudly day and night. There have been three shootings, two of those ending in death, and several violent rapes that have happened in the complex over the past few years. There are several registered sex offenders living in the complex.

If you are looking for a quiet home where you can feel safe, this is NOT the place for you. Don't be fooled by the pretty flowers and fresh paint. There is mold in the ventilation system, plumbing and heating and air failures and little care about the residents comfort and safety. I am currently looking for a new place to live and would not recommend this complex to anyone.
