Review for Glen Ridge Apartments

I don't like it here. I moved here a year or so ago. I was shown a nice apartment and ended up with an apartment with banged up floors, crusty counter tops, stoves/sink/toilet/shower/oven/air/heater didn't work, sewer backing up on me, roaches, huge rats, dead mice, bedbugs, leaky ceiling, peeling paint, loud neighbors. I had to call the police once a week because drunk people in the parking lot were fighting or drinking while blaring their car radios. I lived like this from August 07 to May 08. During this time, nobody at Glen Ridge did anything to help me and all I got was the run around. Maintenance even ruined some of my personal belongings or purposely broke or stole things! I got tired of keeping records of everything that went wrong because it just depressed me. I mean, I have a life!

After waking up with bug bites all over my body one morning, my mom threatened to go to the press. After a three hour conversation and a lot of yelling, they moved me from that building to an "updated" apartment. This one meets the bare minimum that I would tolerate. There's still peeling walls and mold everywhere, but no roaches. I've seen mice and my neighbors constantly see them but I don't. However, the other residents are still just as noisy and rude with people screaming at each other. I still have to call the police at least once a month. My BGE bill is pretty high. And even though I don't have a pest problem, I have to significantly rearrange my furniture every few weeks to treat for other people's pest problems with a week or less notice. I haven't had a decent vacation in almost two years because I'm afraid to go out of town for fear maintenance will come by and wreck my apartment.

The only thing I can say is that the kitchen's are tiny but all the other rooms are standard sized and the closets are pretty big. But it's really a crap shoot what building you get. I don't mean to "slam" the community, but this is that stereotypical dump apartment you get when you can't afford anything else.
