Noisy Apartments, Negligent Staff. Avoid.

I have had no end of problems with this place since I moved here in early 2008, so I will list them here, one by one.

First of all, there is the staff. These people are the very paragon of incompetence, negligence, and dishonesty. They completely lied to me when trying to sell me the lease. They lied about parking. They lied about the number of college students who live here. They lied about public transportation access.

Secondly, the staff is about as useless as the lowest scum you will find in government offices. They leave pretty much whenever they please (the posted office hours are more like suggestions, than actual hours). They have lost two of my pacakges, so I never have anything delivered to the apartment anymore (I had to get a UPS box to take my deliveries instead).

They are constantly having maintenance issues. Either the air conditioning or heating stops working, at which point they barged into my apartment with virtually no notice. I was also locked out of the building on six separate occasions, as their outer doors' electronic locks had constant problems over the summer. Their solution, of course, was to simply leave the outer doors and garage unlocked and wide open for two full months while they fixed a few locks. And this apartment is not in the nicest neighborhood, to put it lightly (in Dorchester).

The noise is unbearable; the construction of a new apartment (by the same company that runs this horrid place) is virtually non-stop. The trucks for the construction arrive at around 5AM and make an unbelievable racket. At night, college students raise havok and trash the hallways and elevators.

The apartments are grossly overpriced for the neighborhood. The leasing agent lied about the average price of similar apartments in the area. No surprise there, in hindsight.

Worse still, they are a hassle even when it comes to paying rent. So far they have "lost" two of my checks, and mis-deposited one of them for the wrong amount. This almost borders on criminal. The manager's excuse was that she was pregnant and had no control over the situation. Absurd.

Happily, my lease will soon expire. However, they keep "losing" my notice to vacate, threatening to automatically renew my lease unless they receive that notice, so now I have to send it by certified mail, and carbon copy an attorney. This is ridiculous.

Good riddance to them.
