Review for Boott Mills Apartments

I lived at "The Boott" for about a year. I loved the location, and the apartments look great. But the walls between the units have no insulation between them. So you can hear everything your neighbors are doing, as if they were standing right next to you. Also, if your neighbors smoke, you smoke. (At least you'll feel that way.) Some security problems there on occasion as well (flat screen TV torn right off the wall in the laundry room and taken, cars vandalized in parking lot several times, people setting off fire extinguishers in the buildings). Some of this comes with city life, but when I moved in I was told there was going to be 24 hour security. That never materialized. Management staff is friendly enough, but I got the feeling that their philosophy was to hire attractive women and tell them to just "smile and play dumb" about everything. Good maintenance staff, friendly and very responsive. Bear in mind that this is an old mill building by a river, so you're going to see bugs sometimes. Saw some of the biggest spiders I've ever seen there.

Overall The Boott has pluses and minuses. I ended up moving because it was too noisy and just not the best place for my child. If it was just me I might have stayed. The location and style of the apartments make up for a lot of the inconveniences.
