Review for Spring Valley Apartments

My wife and I just moved from North Carolina to Detroit and as we found you have to be careful because Metro Detroit's got a lot of crappy places to live.

Spring Valley is pretty nice-- we have a 2BR/2BA 2nd floor unit and it's a lot more like a townhouse than an apartment. We have a private entry, with an indoor half-flight of stairs. Overall it's pretty spacious. The bedrooms are adequate size and our guest room is big enough for a queen bed in addition to our full nursery set. The bathrooms are decent as well, they are both full baths and were recently redone. The kitchen is a good size but there's not what I'd call an abundance of storage space. I would say there's enough room for a full set (12 place settings) of dishes and glasses with pots and pans, or a full pantry of food... but not both. Plan on having a shelving unit to round out the storage.

There's also a deck (2 sliding doors, one off the master, one off the living room) with outside storage. The 2nd bedroom has a lot of storage as well and I would generally say the storage space is way above average at this place.

The only downside of this place is that it's a little old; if I had to guess, it's probably from the 70's. On the upside, there have been recent updates like new carpet, new tile hearth and fireplace, and the baths are brand new. The other bad thing is that in Farmington there's only one cable/internet provider, Brighthouse Networks, and it's really expensive. We got satellite cable but can't really afford internet. Currently Brighthouse only offers internet as part of a bundle and it would cost at least $100 a month, plus some ridiculous installation cost ($175?!?).

For the money, I think this place is really pretty nice.
