Review for Garden Grove Apartments

Rent: They raised my rate 3 times during the first 18 mos.

Heat: Issues with not turning the heat on early enough in the fall and shutting it off too soon in the spring. When I reported them to the New Brighton code enforcement officer and notified my neighbors about the state law, the apartment manager claimed that I had violated my lease by "interferring with the way they conduct business" and wrote me up as an infraction.


Security: Had been frequent break-ins and damage to laundry facilities. Management recently replaced washers/dryers and switched to a card swipe system instead of quarters, which means you have to take time to load the card in the office during their not-so-convenient business hours.

Parking: They're aren't enough spaces. Some tenants park on the street. No patrolling/removal of vehicles that are unauthorized to park in apartment's lot. If you arrive home after 6 PM, you'll frequently be left without a parking space.

Condition: Fairly worn out. Public areas such as entrances, hallways, and laundry room are not kept clean. They do a quick vacuum once a week, but carpeting is soiled and walls are marked up.

Noise: Thin walls. I can hear the neighbors' alarm clocks go off in the morning both in the apartment underneath mine and next to mine. On a busy street with constant traffic noise. Dogs aren't allowed, but they play favorites and make exceptions, which means I've had to listen to a puppy yapping from across the hall.
