Review for Val Verde Apartments

Do not move here. They are overpriced considering there are NO amenities, and they advertise features they do not have (i.e. ceiling fans, courtyard, tile floors, etc.). I lived here for two and a half years, and would not recommend it to anyone. What management there is, completely sucks. The manager that was there when we moved in was good, but things went downhill when she left. They hired the cleaner to manage the place and do maintenance, even though he was not HVAC certified. When our A/C blower broke, he came in and messed with the thermostat, breaking the A/C completely AND the furnace. Last December, a painter left a window open in a vacant apartment and the most recent manager (also incompetent) didn't bother to do a walk through. A water pipe burst, sending water into all the other apartments in our building. We were forced to move out for a week, with no credit on our rent. They did not bother to clean the carpet in our place that had water damage, they just put a big fan on it. On top of all that, they left our apartments WIDE OPEN and put tape over the lock on the building door so anybody could walk in. They unhooked our washer/dryer and didn't bother to put it back, we had to do that ourselves. They didn't clean the carpet after it dried. The problem apartment sat vacant for over a year, and nobody changed the batteries in the smoke detector so when they died, the family that lived below had to listen to non-stop screeching for three days, because it was not an "emergency." By the time we left, they had stopped maintaining the lawn so there were overgrown weeds and big patches of thistle. The place now looks like a dump. Snow removal was also laughable.

Also, they expect the tenants to clean and paint the apartment and get it ready for the next tenant.
