Review for Knollwood Manor Apartments

Very poor response from maintenance & management. Tenant had water problem in upstairs apt. bathroom - water came through ceiling. Maintenance had to open up 3/4 of ceiling due to this - left entire ceiling area wide open WITH MOLD in that area for 5 DAYS. They argued w/tenant-saying it needed to stay open to be sure problem was fixed in upstairs apt. They didn't care that tenant in lower apt. had cancer - mold could affect this person's health. Had to call Health Dept. - they were furious - sent someone out immediately - maintenance was told situation was unacceptable - ceiling had to be closed up immediately. Maintenance person started to argue with Health Dept. representative - but he stood his ground - he also contacted Town of Perinton about situation. Both maintenance & management were very RUDE about entire situation. It was also found that there was also mold underneath lower apartment where person with cancer lived - it was in the crawlspace under apt. Maintenance was told situation had to be remedied immediate & what to do. That wasn't done either in a timely fashion - in fact the correct way of permanently getting rid of the mold was NEVER done as the Health Dept. advised them to do. There were also several items tthat needed to be repaired upon move in over 4 yrs ago; list given to Management - nothing was ever done the entire time tenant lived there - several requests were sent in but no response to any of them. This complex is owned by an absentee owner out of NY City. The property has gone down in the last 3 years since this new owner took over. They don't care what the place looks like - it seems like all they're looking for is to make money at their tenants' expense. My suggestion to anyone looking for a NICE place to live - RUN, don't walk away from this property. There are several other properties right in the same area that are worth the money they're charging for rent & they don't have any MOLD problems, which is a definite health issue for anyone. Be aware, they'll make a lot of great promises to get you to move in - WATCH OUT - they never keep their word!! RUN AWAY from this one.
