Review for Hillside Terrace Apts Apartments

This apartment complex is very nice, spacious and new. At least my apartment was. A neighbor's (who moved in after I did) apartment had old commerical carpeting in it, a broken oven, and kitchen drawer, which has still to be fixed. My apartment has yet to get screens fixed and replaced that were like this since I moved in.

It is nice if you have a family because there a lot of kids to play with. Dont be fooled about the "playground". There is a little section of wood chips with a slide. thats it and they promise to do more but it has not happened in the 5 years they've been there.

Maintenance has changed as much as my brita filter. (every 3 months) Winters can be troublesome. Plowing is not always done well in parking lots. Complex is stingy on salt by plows and on sidewalks! Many times this year we have been practically skating on them and to the parking lot.

Management here has changed 3 times since I've been here in little over a year. Management doesnt seem to know what they are doing seeing as I got and signed my lease and months later was told it wasnt done correctly and they were raising my rent $130!! They also sent my a few copies of new leases to be signed which were all different. ( and mind you this was months after aready signing my 1 year long lease.)

This is a subsidized place which apparently means different rules apply, normal NYS rental laws for rent amt dont count!! This place goes by income so if you dont make alot and you are not planning on getting raises or are on assistance then this place is great. Even if you start out this way, which I did, they never fully explain how their system works. If you start making decent $$ to live on they raise your rent. It can be very unreasonable and stressful. Their lease doesnt even bind them to keeping your rent amount for the year. Not sure why there even is one.
