Review for Meadow Hill Apartments

The apartment itself was not bad, but the landlord is awful. A friend and I who lived there had issues with a noisy neighbor, and despite following the proper complaint procedures, the issue was never resolved. The pipes in the shower rattled too loudly so that we could not take showers at night for fear of disturbing our neighbors; water pressure was terrible, and the baseboards were askew. Luckily, I documented the apartment's state before moving in and after moving out, but I still had to wait over a month for my security deposit to be returned to me. Meadow Hill is an income-based apartment complex, and as such the rent is fairly affordable .... if you don't have a job. Once the friend I was renting the apartment with got a better job making more money, we were over the income standard for the apartment and the rent was doubled. I understand that this was standard procedure for the apartment's guidelines, but we were given 14 days notice, less than half of the required 30 days, about the change in the amount of rent. I have been trying for almost two years now to get a letter of good standing from the landlord. My friend and I left the apartment in excellent condition with no damages and were granted a full refund of the deposit (once we finally got it). Not receiving the letter of good standing from the landlord has impeded my chance at better apartments and has completely eliminated my possibilities of receiving Section 8 assistance, even though I am in dire need of it and can barely make ends meet now as it is.
