Review for Poplar Place Apartments

My husband and I lived in this apartment complex for five years while he was completing his PhD. We had absolutely no problems until the most recent management took over. In May we went to a month to month lease. I informed the office at that time that we would be moving out Aug 31 and told them again in June. When I went into the office in July to tell them again that we would be moving out. I asked if we needed to give written notice and was told no and to come back to inform them the beginning of August. I again came in the office and let them know that we would be moving out and was told "No problem". Two months later I get a bill in the mail stating that we owe a months rent because we did not give notice. A call to the apartement complex did not lead to this being changed. So I am now paying almost $800 because the management is incompetent. The current management also cannot seem to find competent people to paint the complex since they went through 3-4 different companies, one of which got paint all over the windows and doors of buildings. Obviously the most recent group does not know what they are doing. I feel cheated and am disgusted that the last time I went in the office to give notice I actually talked to a perspective tenant about how much we liked it there. I truly hope that she did not choose this apartment complex because the last thing I would want to do is send any business their way. if someone else takes over then maybe things will change, but until then I would say find somewhere else to live.
