Review for Dartmouth Place Apartments

The rent for a 1 bedroom apartment is currently over $600.
Water/sewer averages slightly over $20/month.
My electric bill, using moderate heat and air, ranged from $60-$80 in summer, $130-$180 in winter months.
That's $700-$800 per month to live here, not including cable, phone, or internet.

To compare, $600 is a house payment for a medium house, or rent for these $40,000 factory-built units.

If you get a move-in special for discounted rent, then live here past your lease, your renewal lease will be standard rent. They seem to raise their standard rent $20-$40 per year. So if you get a deal at $560/mo now, don't be surprised when rent jumps to $660 for you next year.

If you do live hear, MAKE SURE YOU DROP OFF YOUR RENT BY MIDNIGHT ON THE FIRST. The manager comes in early morning the second day of every months to process rent checks, whether the second is Sunday or a holiday. If your check is not received at that time, you are automatically fined $100. Pay on time.

The apartment is mostly what it seems, but the plumbing is cheap, sink/ shower drains clog or break, and the walls are very thin so you can hear the neighbors.

I lived in this complex for two years. The first year was pretty good, but the new manager is very unpleasant, and the last ten months left me counting the days left in my lease. The manager is FAKE nice to most people at first, but she really is rather mean and difficult to deal with. I and every other resident I spoke to completely agree; most try to avoid her. She and the inflated price are the worst part of living here.

If any of this sound unfairly harsh, I encourage you to stop and talk to the residents while you visit here to get their opinions.

The landscaping always looks nice when there are many vacancies, but the weekend I moved out I was tripping over grossly overgrown bushes hiding my stairs.

Snow removal is reasonable, always driveable on the lot, but the plows will bury your car on bad nights, so you will want a shovel to dig yourself out. The sidewalks are usually pretty clear.
