Review for Hedges Creek Apartments

My girlfriend and I moved into Hedges Creek last summer 6/01/08. We are new to the state and we both had a job we needed to start right away. We found hedges creek and got lured in because of their move in special. We didn't have much of a choice and I'm sure they could pick up on that, but we both have stable incomes and told them we were looking for a place to stay for a few years. Well, they were in such a hurry to get us in that they wouldn't even schedule a viewing 'our' apt. so we went to look for ourselves. (I forgot to mention that the only concern we voiced was noise; we both get up at 4am) They had picked an apt for us with our bedroom and balcony overlooking some train tracks. We politely went back and asked them if this was fixable and if there was another one available (considering it was the beginning of summer and they had move in specials 'cuz all the college kids were leaving) they said they had a another available.

At this point we are just happy we're not by the train tracks, can you imagine where they put us? Overlooking our dining roomand kitchen and master bedroom: the recycling center (10ft away), the garbage center, the the mailbox center, and the busiest intersection in the entire complex. Point being, there's a motorcycle club that lives here or something and the amount of diesel trucks and loud mufflers is absurd the garbage guys come at 8am and even with all the windows closed we still hear every sound. On top of all that, we're on the 2nd flr, we hear both upstairs and downstairs: light switches, laundry machines, floors creaking constantly especially if there's children or a pet upstairs (geez, they allow dogs on the third floor and there's always dog poop everywhere) I can even hear when the neighbors upstairs turn on water and when the downstairs is taking a shower. Oh did I mention the incompetent landscaping crew? 7-8am 2-3 blowers start up and it's only a matter of a few minutes before on walks right past your window, and it lasts for hours (they even blow right past your front door and it's like a jet just drove by. Oh and I hope you don't mind dings on your car 'cuz the blowers will blow anything in any direction I even had to go out and ask one of the guys to stop blowing the rocks up against peoples cars (he just didn't get it).

If I had a baby or sleep problems this place would be a living nightmare. We don't have our windows open ever, I can't study or write very well 'cuz of constant noise distractions. Oh I can even hear the TV, light switches and doors closing downstairs. One last noise issue, they designed the master bedrooms walls to be right next to the stairwell. We had to move our bedroom to the other side of the apt because the neighbors stomp and bang so loud up and down the stairs that it shakes our room and people come home at 2am drunk banging and yelling (man, it shakes our living room and we hear it all in the dining room too).

I don't know what Oregon standards are but I just moved here from Arkansas and I can bare witness that these apartments are way worse than anything I've ever lived in. I mean for the price and location you'd think they can't be that bad but I would only recommend these apts to some one who loves walking on eggshells in their own home or loves spying on their neighbors or I guess if you are never home or I guess living on the third floor wouldn't be so bad (except I can hear the downstairs neighbors dishwasher). I'm almost afraid to talk aloud in my own home out of fear the neighbors can hear.

All this noise isn't just once in a while, it's everyday. The I would only recommend this complex to those who are never home or don't have any issues with noise, I mean constant background noise. I could go on about this place, there are so many things wrong.

Summary:

Parking - buy a spot or spend 10 min looking for one at 7pm when your getting home for the night; oh and prepare to walk a couple of blocks with groceries or luggage.

Noise - worst ever; probably worse than living by the tracks.

Grounds - sterile; nice if your used to concrete strip malls and business districts. Oh if your a nature person stay away; they destroyed the wetlands for this horrible place and everyday I walk by there and some ones thrown a shopping cart or broken bottles into it, so sad.

Safety - besides the fact we had our upstairs neighbors try to enter our home numerous times until the Manager had to call the police to resolve it or the countless bums and drunks riding and walking by (you don't know if they are the landscapers or just there)

Construction - Completely hollow!!!!

Maintenance - Horrible. We moved in and our washing machine was broken, our hot water comes out of the cold side, our bathroom door handle is on backwards, our laundry closet fan screeches our bathtub leaks and we have some mold sneaking in. All of which we told Maintenance about and the only thing that happened was a new washer.

Staff - Nice and fake, typical. Don't expect them to care about your needs when moving in.

Overall - Over priced trash. They're probably ok, if you live on the 3rd floor.
