Review for Barrcrest Manor Apartments

I currently live at this apartment complex and would not recommend it to anyone. It is very old and has a persistent bad odor similar to mildew when you walk into the building. The management is completely inflexible in dealing with tenants. If you need to break your lease for some unforeseeable reason they will make you give 60 days notice (and pay the rent for those 60 days) IN ADDITION to one month's rent as a penalty for breaking the lease (which is $890 per month for a 1-bedroom in my case...so the 60 days plus the penalty adds up to be $2,670). I accidentally locked myself out of the apartment and it took the on-site 'emergency' maintenance person nearly an hour to bother to come let me back into my apartment...he was only living a few feet away. It is also a fairly noisy place because many of the residents are elderly and listen to their TV's loudly...very loudly...which can make it difficult to have any peace and quiet. They do not allow any pets, other than cats, for anyone. If there has been any updates to this facility in recent years, I am unable to tell, as the whole place is dingy and appears unclean. The elevators are rickety and small. It is difficult to find parking if you have guests over in the evenings. Honestly, I don't know why anyone would live here. 8/31/09
