Review for Springhill Apartments

First off when they take you to view the apartment they show you their display unit, which actually looks very nice. I should have known something was up when they wouldn't show an actual lived in apartment unit. The day I moved in I did a walk through with some of my family. The office staff did not accompany us. Every other apartment I have ever moved in to does a walk through with you. The apartment was disgusting. They told me the apartment had been cleaned, it wasn't, they probably had someone come through there with a rag and brush stuff off. The rugs still had marks in them from where the previous tenants had put their furniture and it smelled like smoke, so the rugs had obviously not been cleaned. Some of the cabinets were broken, the inside of the fridge had lots of mold growing in it, the toilet was dirty, the tub had a giant stain in it from the roof leaking, the ceiling above the tub was leaking water. The office staff were very very rude and argued with us that it had been cleaned and said that they were sorry it wasn't up to "our" standards. Apparently our expectations were way beyond normal standards. If I hadn't already signed a lease I would have left on the spot. We had to end up cleaning the entire unit ourselves. As for the leak in the ceiling it took a month for the maintenance to come and fix it and they did a lousy job fixing it and had to come back again and really fix it, which took 2 more weeks. The walls were paper thin, you could hear the neighbor upstairs blaring their music and the neighbors next door yelling and screaming at each other. The oven had to have been taken out of a motor home, it was half the size of a regular oven. The fridge not only had the mold in it, but I'm pretty sure it was from the 1960's. The thermostat was way way off, it took forever to heat up the tiny little apartment and made the electric bill ridiculous. The water heater was garbage. You could take a hot shower for about 5 to 10 minutes. Some days you wouldn't get a hot shower and it didn't matter that you hadn't used the hot water at all that day. There was also a a shooting in the parking lot outside my window early in the morning. Well it was more of a gun fight with the cops and a skinhead. Also, right before I left they upped the rent, so not sure how much it is now, but $554 was way overpriced for a 400 square foot apartment. I can't think of any good reason to move here.
