I currently rent because I'm young, have lived in many places over the last years (college, internships, jobs) and I'm not ready to buy. I like the convenience and ease of apartments.
Highlander does not make life any easier or less stressful.
Upon move-in, many things were in need of repair. I don't have a washer-dryer (year-long lease required -- no thanks) and their "gym" is one very old elliptical machine, two treadmills (one of them broken and there are no plans to replace). My air conditioner doesn't work and it's AUGUST in the Tri-Cities -- that's pretty much not acceptable. It's also got a well-deserved party rep -- and the parties aren't exactly filled with smart people.

Just don't do it. If you value your life and want "home" to be someplace relaxing and calm, shell out the extra money to be somewhere else.
