I have lived in many places in many cities, and I have never encountered management or maintenance even remotely as bad as that of Michael Barry Properties. The first day I moved in to my apt, the floors were dirty, boxes were in the closet, and food was still in the freezer. When I notified the front office, the clerk said, "Oh, I thought that the previous tenants had cleaned the apartment." Ok whatever. I attempted to get a cover for one of the AC vents. This required telling 3 separate maintenance guys over the course of 2 months. Why? Because the maintenance that Michael Barry hires are generally useless and it almost seems like he hires these incompetent people so that he can fire them when they don't do their job. And that is exactly what happened. Every time I would go to the front office to complain about the vent cover, I was told regarding the maintenance guy, "He was let go last week." One day, I was finally able to get one of their workers to fix 5 of the many things wrong with the apartment. Later, when I needed something else fixed, I requested that same maintenance man and was told that he was currently serving a prison sentence for an undisclosed purpose. Awesome! Among the many many problems I had with the apartment: pigeons inhabited by heater closet and only after way too much persistence was I able to convince the management to get rid of them; management promised to fix my broken windows before I moved in - first request - it'll be done next week, second request - the windows will arrive soon, third request - windows will be here tomorrow, fourth request - windows were brought to my apt and one was fixed, fifth request - nothing, and the glass sat in my apt for the remainder of my time there because I ran out of energy requesting; and so much more. Michael Barry himself oozes dishonesty. I had the extreme displeasure of complaining to him about my apt, the maintenance, and the management to which he responded with great fury while the idiotic secretary watched us and smirked. Did I mention that she replaced the prior secretary who was "let go" and who Michael Barry of course blamed for all the issues at hand. I would never recommend living in a property under the Michael Barry aegis. It would be a mistake of the highest order. I haven't even been able to list all the things that were wrong about the place. Unfortunately, back when I lived in one of the MBPs, I was naive and thought things would improve, but of course, they didn't.
