Apartment Review for Colonial Village At Trussville

I lived in this building with my girlfriend for about a year. The guy in 1001 constantly played music loudly - so loudly that we could not sleep at night. Complaining to management did nothing. Calling after hours security (when he was around) did nothing - his response was "the guy doesn't have a lot of furniture, that's why it's so loud." All of this inspite of the fact that the City of Irondale (and yes they are called Coloninal Village at Trussville but are actually in the Irondale city limits) has a noise ordinance. He would turn it down when the cops came but it got louder as soon as they left. I guess management didn't care if they had people living there that broke the law (even if it is just a city ordinance), as long as they got their money. I expect a certain amount of ambient noise in an apartment, but no to the extent where it affects my quality of life.

Also had an issue with the A/C not draining and backing up into the apartment, wetting the carpet and staining it.

Even though final walk through went OK we have yet to receive the deposit back.

10 years ago this was a top of the line place to live. It's probably about two years away from looking like the rest of the apartment complexes in northeastern Jefferson County - Section 8. There have been increased issues with crime in this complex. I know of at least two apartments in this particular building that were burglarized within the past 6 months.

Oh yeah, one of the employees at the complex lives in this building - a younger guy who has loud friends that like to hang out in the parking lot and on the stairways.

Bottom line - the management only cares about the money and the quality of residents is on the decline. If you need an apartment look somewhere else!
