Apartment Review for University Place

The above comment is ridiculous. I've lived at UP for nearly three years. My studio apartment faces the street (18th st), and I'm an incredibly light sleeper. I have very few complaints about any nightly noises. You obviously get the occassional ambulance, but there are few "boom cars" after around 10 pm and I've yet to ever hear any gunshots. As far as the staff is concerned, they've all been incredibly nice and very responsive, especially Misty. I think a lot of times you get the attitude your project in return. I've been nothing but courteous and have received the same in return.

There are a few downsides to UP. The rooms are small for the prices paid, the 'fridge requires a regular defrost, and there are no options for W/D in apartments (aside from the penthouse). However, it's incredibly close to UAB (especially the VA hospital, Shelby, LHL, Volker, etc). All utilities are included in the rent. Parking is extra, but I gladly pay it considering my car has never been touched. The night watchmen who man the desk are a little lax, if the worst thing that's happened in the three years I've been here is that I've had one solicitor selling magazines door-to-door, I can't really complain. Overall, I'm pleased with this place.
