We lived at this "dump site" for a year. It was the longest year of my life. We never got a chance to even see the place where we were going to live as it was not ready until the day the moving truck and our family arrived. They were still in the process of fixing a tear in the living room carpet by glueing it together. The AC didn't work, the phone jacks were painted over so you couldn't get a line in to use. Thank God for cell phones!!! The BR sink overflow area was rusted out and had sharp edges in it, the sink in the kitchen by the next evening was leaking. Then the phone lines had to be worked on twice as we still couldn't use the phone due to faulty lines.
Within a 48hr period of moving in we had company. Huge cockroaches moved in. They came up through the sink in the kitchen, the bathroom tubs, and through an opening under the sink in the kitchen. For the year we were there we had the place sprayed several times. The larger roaches left, but we ended up with their babies. We moved after dumping most of our furniture, dishes, etc and the staff and management didn't even care of the money we lost because of this problem. The only compensation they gave us was instead of giving 2 months required notice to vacate, we got 1 month instead.
We were told by the pest company that we did have cockroaches as I had saved some to show them. Then they turned around and told the staff, they never saw any.
The carpeting should have been replaced before we even moved in. It was so worn there was barely any pile left. It was different in each room. The outside screens on the windows needed replaced as they did not fit properly and were filthy.
Maintenance staff at the beginning were helpful, but there was a high turnover rate and the good ones left for a better job. The grounds were not kept up during the summer months. Grass was left to die and leave only mud. Residents with pets rarely picked up their dogs droppings and even though the maintenace staff was to monitor this, there were areas that were never picked up.
Lighting in the area had it's problems as well. Occasionally some little idiot child or teen was able to turn off the main switch to the outside grounds leaving it so dark in the courtyard areas you couldn't see your hand in front of your face. Of course the after hours staff said it "wasn't an emergency" to look into. There was constant problems with the lighting and at one point some of the areas were not fixed for weeks leaving it very dark and unsafe for anyone walking in the areas.
As far as crime, there were the usual thefts and let us not forget a crime of rape of a woman in the complex. Kids were breaking open the glass that houses the fire extinguishers and taking them.
The insulation and walls were so thin, you could hear your neighbors next door without even going outside. Once outside, you could hear a normal conversation from your own home.
Needless to say, we hated this place and we are so glad to be out of there. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
