Apartment Review for Hacienda Del Sol Apartments

I'm writing this review as a service to my fellow renters. I've been renting since I moved out, through college, since being employed . . . <P>
My title is "I'm here because I have to be" for the simple reason that I cannot afford anything else better. I'm in a seperation with my ex and we have a little girl together. I'm paying rent at another apartmen (lease agreement) and child expenses -plus whatever else. HDS was by far the cheapest alternatvie. <P>
Overall, the property is old, it's rundown, it's in a sketchy neighborhood. I can certainly see why others with higher incomes would not move here. Primarily everyone here is a migrant worker living in a 1 BDR with three guys or they're here with their 9 member family, or they're like me living in a bad situation. I'm the only guy here who speaks english -I swear to god. <P>
Building: I'm living in unit that was never lived in. It was used as the model. I jumped right on that sucker. The carpet and floors are fine. The remodeling is nice. It makes for a good look. A nice plus. However I've got roaches, not a lot, but roaches are roaches -didn't think that would be an issue in an apt. that hasn't been lived in for years. The bugs are just inside the walls nothing can be done and I'm certain the little ******* have built up an immunity to the pest control poison because they never seem to go away. Smoke permeates through the downstairs units. I live on floor 2 and when I come home I can smell cigarettes and/or pot in my house. AND I LIVE ALONE! I've got really cool neighbors so the noise thing isn't an issue for me. Occasionally I'll run into problems. Also, the dishwasher rusted my utensils, I'll only wash by hand now. <P>
Safety? Hope you're not easily intimidated. I don't like to walk around at night on weekends after 8pm unless I'm going straight to my car. I never see females walking around after dark and I can see why. Never had a car break in -my car isn't a beauty but I have one of the nicest cars in the entire lot. Since a lot of these people are non-resident aliens or illegal, most of them aren't going to cause any trouble that would get the cops involved -but there are always cops parked in the lot - all the time -not just one or two but sometimes 3 and 5 units will be there. <P>
Overall, you get what you pay for. <P>
Staff: Depends on who you talk to. You may get an idiot or the head manager. <P>
Maintence: Kick ***. I've never had maintenence guys this good ANYWHERE! <P>
Parking: I can see how it could be a problem -but I live close to the entrance so it hasn't been an issue. <P>
I recommended this place because you can't come here with high expectations. Like I said -you get what you pay for. <P>
Since I've had to live here I find my community liveable, but I'm NOT going to renew my lease. <P>
