Our Review for Sagewood Apartments

Sagewood Apartments have some amazing features according to resident reviews. Many love the two basketball hoops and a field of grass across the street. However, there are some who say noise can be an issue, while others would like to see security tightened. Regardless, the location is perfect for all tenants, especially those affiliated with the Thunderbird School of Global MGT. Many nearby parks such as Tierra Buena Park and Acoma Park allow some outdoor activity as well. Scopo’s on 59th, Golden Dragon, and Erawan Restaurant are all great places to go to when wanting to dine out in the region.

07/29/2012 - We've had three apartments broken into in the last two weeks. One resident who called the police has had his air conditioner vandalized. Drugs being sold openly out of an apartment two doors down from the office. So many people moving out, it's beginning to look like a ghost town. No security of any kind. Glendale PD used to patrol at night but stopped several weeks ago.
07/12//2012 - I've been too busy to update since last fall. Things were pretty good for about a month and then the new manager started renting to anyone who applied. She left in the spring and we got a new manager who got rid of the really bad people but ultimately still had to deal with the owner. His only concern seems to be keeping the vacancy rate down. Now we're losing another manager because of the owner. Police were here last Sunday to break up a gun/knife fight. My neighbor had her laundry stolen last weekend. If you're desperate and have nowhere else to go, Sagewood is OK. But, if you want a safe, well-maintained environment, Sagewood is not the place.
10/31/2011 - What a difference a month makes! The manager has been working with Glendale PD to get the drug dealers out. Winter grass is coming up thanks to adequate watering. New maintenance people are keeping the place (including the pool) much cleaner. The dog I mentioned on Oct 10 is gone and the manager is giving notices to people who have brought in dogs over the 30 lb. limit when we let her know about it. Had a Halloween party yesterday with about 10 kids. We are getting a sense of community back and several of us who were planning to move have decided to stay.
10/10/2011 - We had another dog attack at Sagewood this weekend. A boxer/pit mix broke the screen and came outside through the window to attack a Shih Tzu that was being walked on leash by its owner. The police were called but said there was nothing they could do. Several of us spoke to the manager this afternoon and found out there is a 30 lb. limit on dogs but people are sneaking in the bigger dogs. This is an improvement over the no-restrictions pet policy of previous managers. As with any community, it is up to us residents to help maintain a safe environment. It seems that the current manager (who now lives on the property) is making a real effort to improve the place.
9/4/2011 When I moved into my apartment 19 months ago, Sagewood was a lovely complex. A new owner and management company took over in August 2010 and it has been downhill ever since. I concur with much of what others have said: no security, dog droppings everywhere (they have no size or breed restrictions on dogs and there have been two dog-on-dog attacks that I know of), children running around unsupervised vandalizing property, police running through the complex with guns drawn, only a single ceiling fan in the laundry room (evap cooler has not worked all year). This week I noticed that all the shrubs (even the oldeanders) are dying and the grass in the center of the complex is brown and dead so they must have cut back on watering again. I've been told by two different staff members that the owner has financial problems and it shows. I can't wait for my lease to be up so I can move.

Fortunately it is accross the street from a college with 2 basketball courts and a huge grass field. Without this convenient amenity there are no other mindblowing features. Neighbors are drug dealers... Management works part time ... seriously and from time to time, a car is stolen. I have been there a year and havent lost a thing so its not that bad. No hot chicks either and the salt river is cleaner than the pool.... <P>
