Great Apartments ( over a year ago )

Reviewed by: Anonymous
The staff was the best thing about the apartments. I had some minor ari conditioning problems recently. When I went to submit my work order, the technician followed me back to my unit from the office and fixed it on the spot. Same thing when my garbage disposal went out. Always helpful and friendly people. The neighborhood is of great quality too. I never have any problems with my nieghbors and everyone is very friendly. They just painted the place and re-surfaced the parking lot so the place looks brand new. Great location. If I wasn't buying a house i'd stay there forever. <P>

Very nice complex but it's fair to expect a bit more, particularly exterior maintenance like the other reviewer mentioned. The longer you put things off, the worse they get and it detracts from the entire property. What's with all the expired car registrations too?
Overall it's a very nice propery with good management, but they need to walk the property more and take care of the little things like window and door screens, lights, dumpsters, GIANT ROACHES, expired license plates, filthy cars that sit for months without being moved (stolen, abandoned?), etc.
I hope management stays on top of things, I'm a long term resident that is getting a little concerned that this 5 year old property is starting to look much older. That's a shame because it's a well built and nice looking property. Get it together management!
I do recommend it however, it's much nice than most of it's competition. I have looked and decided to stay put, but I still have concerns that they should address soon.

Overall a pretty nice comunity, but they aren't real good at exterior maintenance and some areas are like a dog park where no one pickes up after their dog. My girlfriend and I take evening walks and there are a lot of lights burned out, and areas where the landscaping hasn't been touched. It's pretty quiet at night, but parking is getting worse, but maybe if they got rid of the inoperable cars it wouldn't be so bad. Floorplans are outstanding, and so are the details. Office staff is good, but again exterior maintenance seems to be a low priority. No security, but it seems pretty safe and quiet and the gates help, when they work anyway.
I recommend Sierra Canyon, but I am concerned about maintenance, including broken equipment in the exercise room. The business office computers don't work either, even though they told me they were available when I moved in. I'm not sure I would renew my lease unless they get these things taken care of soon.
Overall, it's better than most but not nearly as good as some others, for similar rents. Check out Arrowhead Highlands and Sage Stone first, then Sierra Canyon.

Well built, superb floorplans and details, competitive rents and decent parking, but repairs and abandoned cars are becoming a problem for lack of attention. Broken access gates have been ignored for months, inoperable cars, overgrown landscaping in many areas and now they plan on closing the main pool for two weeks or more for remodeling - in the middle of summer??? Whoever agreed to that schedule apparently doesn't care very much about tenants. There are lighting issues that have also gone unrepaired, so it's pretty dark in some areas and potentially unsafe or even dangerous.
All in all it's nice property and much better than it's competition, but it's on a slow downward spiral due to general neglect. Ignore a problem long enough, and they start to multiply and get worse, I hope the staff starts to realize this soon before they get too far behind. They also need to stay on top of dog owners, far too much dog crap littering the community, even though they provide baggies in various areas.
Staff is friendly and courteous, but they could be more responsive to legitimate complaints about broken lights, gates, overgrown landscaping, abandoned cars and dog crap. That IS their job after all, and I am sure they want the property to look as perfect as possible, if not for existing tenants, for those considering moving here as well. As it stands I would probably pass on Sierra Canyon given it's current condition. I hope they address these issues soon.
I would recommend this complex to anyone, with the condition that they get a commitment from management to address the growing problems I mentioned.

The place is so quiet and peaceful, very nice details and floorplans, management is superb, and it's very well maintained although there are a few issues here and there, but nothing major or that would make me change my opinion.
The apartments are lovely, although the carpet is very basic and cheap, and doesn't belong in such nice units. Otherwise it's very nice and I highly recommend it.

Well kept, very quiet, good management, well cared for pools, lots of parking, but like any place, there are some minor problems. The "business center" computers don't work, some of the access gates need work because they don't fully latch, but otherwise, very secure. This is Arizona so there will be the occasional car theft or break-in, but it's a rare ocurrence, unlike many other communities. Being gated cuts back dramatically on drive-thru traffic, which can be be conducive to criminal activity. Things happen anywhere, but it's the exception at Sierra Canyon, not the rule.
The disabled parking needs some work too - signs are missing and people tend to park there illegally after the office closes. Very rarely do people park in your assigned space, and if they do management will tow them, which is nice since you're paying for it.
The apartments themselves are very well appointed, with raised panel doors, icemakers in the refirgerators, extra large capacity washers and dryers in which you can actually do a full load of laundry at one time, molding, arches, rounded corners and lots of windows and light. The carpet is the only real problem, it doesn't belong in a $950 per month apartment,it's what you'd get in a $500 apartment. The kitchen is huge, lots of cabinets, HUGE bathrooms, HUGE closets, very nice exterior architecture, huge covered patio with access from the dining room AND bedroom, and more. They also have a security system you can have monitored for $10 per month, or if not, it will sound an alarm if anyone tries to enter through the doors or windows. along with fire sprinklers, that will help reduce your insurance rates.
All in all, I feel VERY safe, and sleep soundly without worrying too much about my vehicle being broken into or stolen. I highly recommend Sierra Canyon, and I'm almost sorry I didn't sign a longer term lease because it's very comfortable and homey. Not a lot of young people with noisy cars either - I suppose the higher rents are prohibitive, and therefore worth every penny. I love it here, but make no mistake, your car MIGHT be broken into or stolen, but it's less likely here than in many other communities.

Location is great right on a bike path by a park mountian views and close to everything. Great spot to be but not in the congestion. Staff is great and very friendly. Always have fun things to do and very safe.

Great location in Northwest Glendale. Very close to Arrowhead Towne Center. Large apts with spacious floorplans. Current apt is 2Br with over 1200 sq. ft. for $908 mo currently. On site "cares" team (community activity team). Nice pool and high quality neighboors. Love it!
