Very Helpful Review for Prospective Residents

I grew up in a very large family that often struggled to get by. As such, we never lived in the best areas or apartments and we're no strangers to less-than-perfect living. However, this apartment is by far one of the worst I have ever lived in despite the coming and going of "better" management.

When we first looked into moving we were rushed and needed a place to stay immediately, we agreed to move into a 2 bedroom provided that they do a few simple maintenance repairs such as the sagging, water-stained popcorn ceiling, and the egregiously dirty carpet. The carpet was never cleaned and we thought the obviously leaky roof was repaired but as soon as monsoons came we quickly found out that they only re-popcorned the ceiling rather than fixing the leak.

We've lived here for a year thinking it would get better with new management, but ,long story short, and over 15 unanswered maintenance requests later my mom and I were diagnosed with pneumonia from mold inhalation as well as dermatitis and chronic migraines. The black mold was found coating our entire apartment ceiling because the leak was not fixed for over a year despite repeated nagging requests (and still isn't fixed to this day). The air conditioning unit broke twice during this summer and it took over a week each time to fix it in over 100 degree weather. The water is constantly shut off, and when maintenance needs to repair another unoccupied unit they tap in to our electricity which has driven up our bill to over $150.00.

When I walk home from work at night I have to have my boyfriend pick me up because of the crime. I've been approached over 5 times by drug dealers and my mom has had her car keyed. When we first moved in I was attacked in the parking lot and had my wallet stolen. The first week we moved in we received 2 notices on our door warning us about a stabbing and multiple break-ins. About 2 weeks later the police responded to a call in which a child had found his parents gun and was "playing" with it. When the children are off of school on the weekends they throw rocks at cars passing by. Despite complaining to the office about the drugs and violence, along with maintenance and general health issues absolutely nothing has been done. I have scheduled 3 appointments with the property manager to specifically speak about renegotiating our lease, but each time she has not shown up nor called to even cancel. When I confronted the office staff about their neglectful management and poor service they suggested that I get a lawyer because they weren't going to fix my problems.

While I understand fully that there are many unpleasant things about living in an apartment, there is absolutely nothing excusable about the management here. This is the worst place I have ever lived, and while I recognize that it could be worse, for the price I'm paying both monetarily and health wise, this is not worth it. This review is only a small portion of the things that my family and I have experienced in one year living here. I have also had a good deal of friends move in an out of these apartments, all with the same stories. If you value the health and safety of you or your family I recommend that you DO NOT even consider living in this complex. There are FAR cheaper and safer alternatives less then a block down the road and we have never been more excited to move!

Trust me, If I could give it less then a one star rating I would.

I have not found a better deal, regardless of the crime. These are the nicest apartments in the west valley that you can get for a relatively cheap price. My husband and I are interested in these apartments. Is there any news good or bad that we should know? This will be our first apartment if we decide to move in.
