Apartment Reviews for Sierra Pines - Phoenix

Just a response to the other reviews: Yes, the noise is bad. The apartments don't allow for a lot of privacy - we can hear conversations and our neighbors, um, private moments. We just turn on a fan or the a/c. I work at home and am on the computer and phone all day, then we go to bed at 7:30 pm, and 99% of the time it is fine. <P>
The loud music, car thefts and crime seems to l depend on area of the complex you are in - the MetroCenter side right on 31st Avenue is out if you want any peace. We had a locked bike stolen from under the stairs right outside the front door our first week. The problem is that the canal entrance on the 31st Ave side of the complex is where vans pull up to hand out stuff to the homeless kids who roam around, so they congregate there, drinking, attracting drug dealers, and generally looking for trouble. My friend who lives in a building further back has even left his bike unlocked outside occasionally and never has a problem, and he gets home late at night. He was very surprised to hear about us calling the police because of the gang of kids causing trouble in the street outside, as he has never had any trouble in 2 years. <P>
On the plus side, the price is good for the huge apartment you get. The maintenance is excellent, quick response and the maintenance people are professional, well groomed and polite - you feel safe having them in when you're alone, or when you're not there. <P>
The location is great for bus riders, and the mall is very convenient. <P>
For roommates, the 1 bedroom is huge. Two people's belongings and furniture fit easily, and there's enough room for a room divider in the bedroom and ample space for two double beds. <P>
We have a unit with a patio with a low wall around it and a little space to garden, which is rare in Phoenix. <P>
I would say this place is for a noise-tolerant person (though you can call security after 10 pm if the noise is excessive and they will come out). Also be sure to get an apartment on the inside, not on 31st Avenue, and you could really like it here. It isn't a place for a nervous or picky person who will complain about multiple things. <P>
All in all, if you are a relaxed person and pick your apartment carefully you will like it here. <P>
