Simply because I'm a college student and sick of moving. FOR NO OTHER REASON. I'll break it down for you: 1. Security Although I don't feel unsafe on a day to day basis (and yes, there have been many nights when I'm out in the middle of the night) the lighting is poor, and the parking situation is so terrible it makes you feel unsafe. There are not enough lights, and most of them are out. The "gated community" is a JOKE. The gate NEVER works; and if it does, people race through anyway. I've never heard of or seen a security officer so I have no idea what these other reviews are referencing. It is safer than Lakeview (our neighbor) because at least we don't have double homocides constantly. 2. Parking Worst.Parking.EVER. If you like in building 3 (west side) you will not park close. There is a giant structure as far away as could be. And there are no assigned spaces (which was a positive feature for me before) so really unless you're trying to find a space at noon on a Monday you won't. You also get countless adverts/coupons etc on your car daily. 3. Appearance/Upkeep So the pretty grounds is why everyone moves here I think. However, they frequently drain the "streams" and it smells like dead fish. If you leave your windows open, the "waterfalls" are extremelly loud. I don't personally use the pool even though it is enticing (looking!) Most people DO have dogs, and very few pick up their poo. Oh, and the sprinklers go on at around 2/3am so when coming home from last call you'll get soaked. 4.Management and Office Staff This term is said very loosely. They are the most incompetent, rude people ever. No one speaks English. The finance manager CAN NOT do basic math for the life of her. (Her fake eyelashes aside) she is the most incompetant person on the planet and WILL leave you harassing notes on your door. I am 100% financially responsible and these people are crazy. Blanca aka the "pitbull" as someone called her is insane as well. She is not helpful, does not care, and can not follow a basic conversation or answer a question. 5.Maintenance JOKE. I've had to call an outside plummer because they are so useless. They have fixed a few basic things (that even I could do) but do not know anything past a screwdriver. They change almost daily (I walk by the maintenance office on the way to school) and am only able to recognize a few of them and they are changed constantly. They are not professional and you would not want them in your apartment without you watching them. 6. Condition of Unit My roomate and I moved into a "catamaran" in august 06 (after having pressure to sign the lease early) on the basis there were going to be huge renovations before we moved in. They painted TERRIBLY (there are runs down every wall, they missed distinguished places etc), installed the cheapest carpet they could find, and thats about it. The kitchen drawers don't slide, there are uneven floors, and the electrical outlets often don't work. 7. Noise Level Normally pretty good. You're just far enough from campus. However, where we are there are a group of really loud obnoxious boys on the 5th floor by the lake. Hopefully they'll move out. Other than that, you'll hear the waterfalls and some VERY ANNOYING DOGS. (Seriously I'm always tempted to call the police on the dogs.) 8. Overall Rating You can tell by now I'm sure what I think of it. It is cheap (compare to my home of CA) but overly priced.
