Best Experience Ever ( 03/19/2013 )

After being here for three years, there is no better foundation that I could have had than this one. I have grown so much here! I was never afraid to interact at the pool or events, and always felt safe coming home at whatever hours of the night. Though no where is perfect, there are incidences that have occurred, however I never had an issue. Maintenance always took care of everything that was ever wrong with my apartment. Filter changes, bringing me lights, explaining to me what was wrong with my apartment. I was always emailed about anything that occurred. Always had internet and a printer to be able to turn in my assignment on time. Though there were times that Gateway dropped the ball slightly, the pros outweigh the bad! I would live here longer if I was not going back home.

I have lived at Gateway for over a year now and it deffinetly is the best value in all of Tempe. The property as a whole is beautifully taken care of and always clean. The apartments are good and deffinatley have alot potential.

I renewed here 4 times and I'm still a resident.
I've had some ups and downs at this place, but the benefits far out way the negatives.
It has the best bang for the buck! The gateway has a gym, volleyball courts, basketball courts, tanning booths, a computer room with free internet and a printer to use, a beautiful pool, Hot tub, and they throw lots of parties and events to keep the residents happy. They have movies at the pool, parties at the pool with DJ's and food, slip and slides, games and prizes, it's endless what they do to create fun here.
As far as the staff, they are very nice and helpful. The only one I didn't like is the blond pregnant girl. Sometimes she can be difficult to deal with, but the other staff members have given me an over all good experience.
As far as security, they are always walking around making their rounds. It feels very safe here. They are usually nice, but if you are like one of my friends that gave them attitude, they will respond with the same attitude you give them.
About safety, the gateway is a huge place with tons of ASU students. Most of the people are great people but in a place as big as this there can be few bad apples. So just use your common sense. The gateway, has outlined a lot of safety rules that if you just follow them you will have a good experience here.
They will charge you for being late on your rent, so if you are a procrastinator this place isn't for you. On the positive side, I've also seen them have drawing for people who pay early. I've seen the Gateway Management give away a free flat screen t.v, trips to Los Vegas, and money for referring a friend. I've even seen them give away a full year of rent.
As far as facilities. They remodeled almost all the units. The upgraded units are very nice! You wont get the flat screen t.v. or the decorations that they put in there to make it look great.
About repairs. If you tell them that your place needs repairs there is a good chance that it won't be done right away. You need to go through the proper steps of writing them a note, dating and signing it. I think they give priority to those who go through the proper steps.
I would recommend the Gateway to anybody!! The facilities is great, the amenities is great, the security is great, the staff is great, the only thing I would change is that attitude of that one staff member, and how fast they fix things when giving them a verbal notice.

With all of the things you get living here, why go elsewhere in Tempe. Great activities, pool parties, events and big living spaces. Never had a problem. I haven’t had one bad experience living here. I really like that we have great CAs and security. With the CAs you get a person who actually lives there to help you. Security is friendly and keeps everyone safe. Any time I called security, the problem was over. I never see police here. My roommates and I are going to miss Officer Shawn. Always made us feel safe.

Seriously, for all the negative reviews on this website, Gateway at Tempe is not that bad. If you are a college student and looking for a place to live temporarily while finishing school, I would say this is a great place to live. First of all, the rent is crazy cheap. $530 for a 4 bedroom apartment with all utilities including cable and iternet? I don't know of any other place that will offer you all those things for that cheap, and believe me I've done the research. Also, everyone complains about the maintenance staff? I literallty see them out working everyday and anytime I have a work order, they come and take care of it that week. For those of you who want it completed within an hour of calling it in, your crazy. I lived at Apache Station and our washer flooded our entire apartment and for 2 DAYS we didn't have anyone even stop by to see what the damage was. Then they wanted to charge us for the damage and it didn't even look like they fixed anything after they came. REALLY? At least gateway's staff always calls me to make sure my maintenance requests were completed. That's another thing. The staff is really nice. Ever since my first tour of the apartments I have had nothing but good experiences with the staff. The courtesy patrol aren't also as quick to respond as I'd like but they aren't useless either. My friends and I walk to devils advocate on thursdays and when we are on our way home we call and they meet us at the gates of the property and walk us home. Some places dont even offer security guards so I'll take what I can get. Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a temporary apartment while finishing school.

All these people complain about Gateway, but for what you pay, it's actually a pretty good deal. Less than a mile from campus, basically all college students, crazy pool parties, great college life complex. Sure there are nicer places like The Vue and Block but you'll be paying way more.
If you're a college student on a budget and don't want to live in a shithole like Quadrangles with sketchy dealers and whatnot, then check out Gateway At Tempe. I've lived here since August 2010 and sure, I've had some frustrations, but not enough to make me trash talk Gateway and not want to live here. No place is perfect! So quit your ********. I like it here and I've learned that if you're polite and respectful to the staff, then they will respect you and treat you better. They're just college students like most of us anyways.

I lived here for my sophmore year. After living in a dorm (PV Main) this was a big upgrade. The prices are pretty fair because most of the other apartment complex (unless you live in a crappy apt. complex) charges about the same. I didn't have any problems with my apartment, but i know some ppl there had a lot of problems with it. The security there was not too great, there were multiple break ins. Some good things about Gateway is that it is a really big place and has a lot of parking. The noise level near my building was very tolerable.

I checked out several other apartments around ASU and found The Gateway to be the best choice. The staff was great to work with. The rates were very good compared to other apartments in the area. I really like the wide open space between the buildings compared to apartments like The Domain which made me feel clostraphobic. I talked to several of the current residents who were walking by as I was taking the tour, they all loved living there.

I have lived at Gateway for about two years, and my roommates and I love it!! The maintence staff always comes to fix anything in our apartment right when we ask, which is always nice. The security guards are also really nice too, they never have an issue with escorting me from my car to my apartment if I come home late. They are always super friendly. Gateway also throws SICK pool parties, they are so much fun!!

I want to respond to all the negative reviews on this website. In regards to the maintenance staff, I have never once had an issue with them. They are always friendly and usually get to any work orders within days of my request. The most recent request I put was fixed the same day it was put in AND one of the maintenance workers called after to make sure I was happy with the service he did. How many apartment complexes do this? As far as the office staff, they are always friendly when I go in the office and even when I see them around the complex they say hello.
If you are reading these reviews to determine if you want to live here you should keep in mind that people are more likely to go on and write NEGATIVE reviews rather than POSITIVE ones. Before you believe everything you read on here, maybe you should stop by gateway first.

Gateway at Tempe is owned and professionally managed by an experienced, national student housing organization. It's disappointing that residents who are under eviction for non-payment (6/10/10 post as an example) use forums like these to try and discredit the staff, and broadcast derogatory and slanderous comments about a management team attempting to do their best for the benefit of all of the residents. The management team is available 7-days/week to address resident concerns, prospects needs, and to maintain the community for the benefit of ALL of the residents. Please consider the credibility and motives of anonymous posts. These posts are, in most cases, from residents under eviction for nonpayment of rent and/or repeated community violations and disrupting their neighbors rights of peaceful enjoyment. You are invited at anytime to contact the management office, or the corporate office to discuss any concerns or questions.

I am so shocked after reading all the other reviews on here for Gateway. I have had some of the best years in my college career living here. The staff have been nothing but helpful with some of my special requests (like needing to live closer to the pool!) They are so friendly and there is always fresh baked cookies in the office, (who does that?) Maintenance gets their job done and are super friendly. I feel safe here too because of the security guards that monitor the place at night.
shaylynn, I can't believe you would accuse the staff of doing drugs. That is such an outrageous comment I believe it de-values your opinion on the community. Ratings sites are supposed to be for honest opinions of the community- not your personal opinions of the people working in the office. Find a new hobby.
In conclusion, I believe Gateway at Tempe is a wonderful community and I renewed for next year!!!!!!

So, new management is took over to make the place better! Great News, for about a month! This place was turning it around by giving out cool prizes and pool parties! Then when we would take the party to our apartments, they would fine us for noise complaints! I’m talking about at least 20-30 students I know about! The two top bozo’s that work there say anyone can drink alcohol at the pool only! I am 21 years old, I don’t want my little sister moving in and management is not enforcing the law!!!! I see management on Mill all the time getting WASTED! So, if you want your kids to pick up a drug habit, alcohol poisoning, or anything else happen bad. MOVE INTO GATEWAY! If you come in to take a tour, don’t listen to the STAFF. Ask someone that lives there randomly and they will let you know the truth! UGH THEY SUCK!

This is my 3rd year of being a resident at Gateway. I can happily say that the community is in great shape these days. In the past, it took a long time to get things repaired in the apartment, but now it seems that the maintenance people and office staff are really trying to get things done. No place is perfect, but with a good location and other great people living here - I'm happy to call it home.
