Review for Don Miguel Apartments

Don Miguel Apartment complex seems like a great place to live when you first visit. The management treats perspective tenants professionally. The apartments appear to be in good condition, and the units toward the front are well kept.
This all changes when you move in. The apartment is 'spot' cleaned to look nice, including the carpets, but all this fades within a week or two as old dirt re-appears. The actual buildings are shoddy and thin, it takes a lot of electricity to keep the heat in the building. The walls are thin, the fixtures in the bathroom are screwed into drywall as finding studs is difficult, and the windows are thin.
The management attitude changes once you are a tenant. They pick and choose what rules to be particular about, and who to make follow these rules. If tenants complain, they seem to be singled out after that. Also, all of the staff lives on the complex for free or almost free rent, which presents a problem when it is they that are partying. On three separate occasions, with two separate staff, we tried to complain of a loud party at around 12:00 to 2:00 in the morning. It was management apartments so not much was done. One of those nights we witnessed the assistant manager being carried from her car to her apartment by the security guard passed out drunk.
It is touted as a drug free environment, but many of the tenants are not only participating in drug use, but also the sale of drugs on the complex, ironically, when we lived there one of the apartment right next to the office had the biggest sale of drugs.
The maintenance men are wonderful. They are the bright spot in the hovel that is Don Miguel. The rest of it is awful.
