Review for Casa Madrid Apartments

This is the worst apartment I have ever lived at! Let me start by saying that our ceiling in the bathroom collapsed in the middle of the night and we had to be put up in a hotel for two nights. Arnel was reluctant at first to pay the entire expense of the hotel. They said that they would only pay $75 dollars per day.....which in Anaheim(a resort city) is not very much for a nights stay somewhere. Anyhow....it was a long process to get them to pay the expense. Also, another problem at Arnel is the towing. They said I could keep my same sticker......but they were wrong and my car was towed. In other words....I was supposed to get a new sticker....so the office staff didn't know what they were talking about. It is so important to know the rules of your own apartment complex and it seems like Casa Madrid lacks that. I did not get my money back for months! It is absolutely horrible! There are also some very dishonest people living at Casa Madrid because I had a whole set of brand new towels stolen from me out of the laundry room. I went to the office about the situation, but of course, nothing was done about it even though they could have easily looked at the camera footage to see who it was. The only good thing I have to say about Arnel is that they have a great maitenance staff. They were always pretty quick about fixing problems. Another big problem I encountered at Arnel was that there were so many spiders! I was always getting bit and just could not seem to get rid of the spiders.....they were everywhere! I walked into a huge spiderweb that covered almost the whole door entry to the apartment....it was disgusting! There were a few big spiders that almost dropped onto my head and on my hand when trying to get into my apartment. I also saw quite a few black widows hanging around......so beware! To expand upon the bug situation.....we also had a bee invasion in our apartment and Arnel had to put us up in a hotel again. On top of that.....they covered up the vent in the bathroom so no bees would get in and the tape they covered it up with caught on fire because they forgot to turn the light off. Anyhow....as you can see Casa Madrid is not a place anyone would want to live! On top of what a bad experience we had at Casa Madrid.....Arnel does not want to give us back our 500 dollar deposit and is charging us more money on top of that. They are trying to make us replace carpet that was already in poor condition when we moved in. It was not new.....if fact they only cleaned it before we moved in and after a month or two all the dirt spots came up. It was the worst carpet I've ever seen in an apartment. We asked them to come clean it a few times, but they never did.......not until our ceiling collapsed in the bathroom. The very last problem i would like to mention is that now the office staff is refusing to give us our mail, that may still be in the mailbox after we moved. My husband and I are having a little problem with our address transfer and so we went back to Casa Madrid to see if there might be any mail for us there. We even told them that we would show them our ID's but they still refuse to show us if we have any mail. I do not know if they are aware of this, but withholding mail is a federal offense!! To end this review.....I will just say that I will never rent or recommend an Arnel property ever again!!
