Review for Belmont Square Apartments

My husband and I lived here for nearly two years. Belmont is a great city to live in, but this is one complex that you should avoid. The landlord is absentee, so you will be dealing directly with the PM. Due to the poor lighting in the garage and lack of a working gate, our car was broken into twice in less than six months. When told about this problem, the PM shrugged us off. The apartments are fairly roomy, but have little updating. The property manager cleaned our carpet twice before we moved in, but it was still a stained, fraying mess. That was the only maintenance done on our unit while we lived there. The curtains are super thin and let in enough light to read by at night, therefore your movement around the apartment is easily visible from Lake Street. The acoustics are awful!!! We could hear our landlord (in the unit below) snoring and using the restroom and she complained all the time about us being noisy (we have no children, pets, or stereo system--and you can't turn off the ventilation system in the bathroom). The PM has several of her family members living in the complex who will access your storage units and use your assigned parking spaces without permission. Our rent was raised twice in two years and we did not get our deposit back, despite leaving the unit cleaner than it was when we moved in. As you might imagine, there is a fairly high turnover of tenants and several units stood empty for months. All said, living here was an unpleasant experience.
