Very Good Local Manager but owner is a problem ( over a year ago )

Reviewed by: Anonymous
Since 2006 we have had a very good local manager (Brett). But unfortunately the owner has not treated him very well and tried to fire him once. Over the years I have come to the conclusion that most of the problems with this complex can be traced to the owner. He does not pay for or value competence in his employees. He will always go with the lowest bid from contracters and then later on shoddy work has to be fixed. He generally tries to cut corners in terms of tenant amenities to save money.

The previous 2 managers would just tell him what he wanted to hear and not address tenant complaints very well. Oddly enough he seemed to think very highly of them. The tenants had to petition the owner to keep on Brett - the first decent local manager we've had in several years.

I rented at Hutton Terrace for two years and I would not go back. The Apaprtment walss are so thin that you are smoking your neighbors cigarette and hearing their footsteps and phone conversations. If you have children you are especially unwelcome with the "OLD" folks constantly glaring at them as they play.I was a rent payer as they were and felt as if my family had every right to all the apartments amenities but often felt, I was seen as an imposition. When we moved the management found every reason to keep most of my security deposit

The previous local manager (Ursula Dawkins / Morales) left thank god (what a witch with a B). A new couple is managing the place now. So far communication with tenants has improved and some much needed landscaping is being done. Other tenants have remarked that the new managers seem like reasonable people. What needs to be done next is systematic regular cleaning of the common areas.
It is still to soon to render a judgement but stay tuned.
