So. I moved to Burbank 2 months ago and signed (unfortunately for my brother and I) a 12 month lease to live here. Don't get me wrong. I LOVE the city we live in. I just don't care for the complex. First off, there's cockroaches in my apartment. no joke. they weren't there the first month, but by month number 2 we had a lot of new little friends if you get my drift. We've set up stakes all over the apartment, but the little buggers just don't seem to want to go away. Next, the doorknob is broken. It's literally a pain in the ass j ust to open the door on our unit. We've asked for it to be fixed, but to no avail. Hopefully sometime soon. The parking situation sucks. You get one spot underneath the building (the spot is actually very small, I scratched my car on it and took a chunk of paint off. Trust me, it blows). And if you have more than 1 car than your other one needs to be parked on the street. The shitty thing is there's all sorts of 'no parking' signs for different hours of different days. I know my brother already got one parking ticket. It's a challenge keeping up with all the no parking signs. The walls are very thin. We live on the bottom floor and can consistantly hear our neighbors above us sometimes into 2 and 3 in the morning. It's very obnoxious. Not that they're doing anything inappropriate, but we hear their music, and hear them stomping around and such while we are trying to sleep. Not very considerate. Our lease manager, Andrew, seemed very nice at first. Mainly up to the point where we signed the lease, then we must have just fallen off the face of the earth or something. He doesn't seem to give a shit about us anymore. I do feel safe here for the most part. I havn't seen or heard of any crime since I've lived here, which is good. But overall, I'm very unsatisfied for what I'm getting. Did I mention the unit doesn't come with a fridge? And that you have to pay for ALL your utilities? Sorry, I must have forgotten that. Our monthly rent is $1719 for a piece of shit dumpster. Add on monthly bills of $80 for cable and internet, $88 for water and electricity, $30 for gas for the stove, $25 for renters insurance (which is mandatory) and you've got nearly $2000 dollars worth of monthly payments for a lousy shithole in a lousy complex. Do yourself a favor and find something a little nicer. Trust me, you'll be glad you did.
