Review Title:   One Word Of Advice: Don't
Reviewer:   Anonymous

If you are even remotely considering this place (or any ARNEL property) for your future residence, for the love of all things sane, DON'T.

Parking sucks. If you happen to own anything bigger than a compact car, you better be prepared to park that truck/van in a compact car-sized parking slot. You also only get one slot, EVEN if you rent a two bedroom unit.

Apartment size/quality information is fraudulent. You read 1000 sq ft on their "leaflet" for the 2BR/2BA unit and it turns out you only get about 800 sq ft, INCLUDING the patio! If that isn't enough, the carpet in the unit is so threadbare and old that spots come out after a couple months and of course, you will be charged for "cleaning" when you move out, even if the place was already bad to begin with. Hot water takes about five minutes to come on and this is especially fun when you are trying to take a quick shower. You will love dancing in icy cold water, if you are into that.

Arnel people are going to rip you off with your money. First they offer a "discount" on your rent for the first few months. You think you are getting a great deal since they seem to be generous enough to give the discount. Of course you won't get your deposit back so you will end up paying back the generous discount you got over the first few months.

Second, they will not let you use any other cable company BUT their own ridiculous company, Skylink. Skylink sucks so bad that there are no words for it. Suffice to say, Skylink has terrible reception, bad channel line-up, charges MORE than Comcast, and uses receivers that were probably tossed out by Comcast/Cox/Charter/etc... ten years ago. Oh yeah, you won't know about this "exclusivity clause" when you sign up coz the good people of Arnel will ommit to mention this. You will only find out when you start calling cable companies to have cable hook up. If you are lucky enough to find a unit that doesn't have trees blocking signal (which is good for about 95% of the units, you can get Dish network so you might luck out on this if you are a gambler. Internet will only get you HORRIBLE DSL connection via SBC since the address is located at the VERY END of the signal of SBC so you pay for something that will only give you 1/5th of the promised speed. You can opt for Skylink's internet service but you have to pay more than your cable tv's fees and you won't get anywhere need the speed offered by Comcast at less than the rate of Skylink.

Getting deposit back --- uh, don't hope for this one. You pay $650 deposit, right? You move out and you figure in about 4-6 weeks, you get it back with maybe $150 off for the cleaning of the apartment, right? Wrong. You not only have to wait MORE than 2 months, you have to CALL Arnel to remind them of your deposit (this is assuming you didn't mess up the apartment coz messing up property that isn't your own is wrong to begin with, no matter how much you end up hating the property) and they toss you back and forth for a week before telling you that it has been "processed" and the check will be out in a week. You wait another two before it does arrive and you find the amount to be less than 1/3 of the original amount because they not only charge you for the cleaning but apparently you get charged for the new paint they painted on the walls AFTER you have left when you didn't even change the paint color or mess up any of the walls to begin with.

The best thing about NOT only waiting over two months for a check that is nothing more than pocket change? You deposit the check only to find out the check had been cancelled by Arnel for reasons unknown so now you get charged by your bank for the returned check fees and once you finally get the check back from your bank, you have to call Arnel again and you get told that it will take YET ANOTHER week for the new check to be sent to you. Oh yeah, and if you want to complain about the fees and whatnot, you have to take it up with yet another part of their company.

Bottomline, after having lived in five other rental properties in the last few years, I have never experienced such disservice of the management to its renters. This place and the entire ARNEL corporation are nothing but corporate suits out to rip off money from the average citizen. Arnel properties SUCK. If you value your peace of mind, live elsewhere. Go to Mesa Verde, they have greater properties for only a few dollars more each month and you get treated better by management.
