The apartment was nice to live in at first, a bit to much drama from the office staff for my liking, all was tolerable until the time comes to move out. The assume that you being military will no longer be in the area upon move out. My family and I moved on the first week of the month (1) due to availability of housing on base and (2) to make sure the apartment was cleaned well enough to get the full deposit back(or as close as reasonable.) We followed all the written procedures for move out to the letter to include all reciepts for cleaning....everything we had the apartment manager come inspect 3 times total to make sure everything was in order. **Note we had been out of the apartment at the time we turned over the keys for 3 weeks, and had been ensuring the place was clean the whole time. We turned in out keys and went about our business. A full month passes and we hear nothing. I do some research to see how long they could hold the deposit (over $ 1,000) for, and come to find out state law states 21 days to provide you with written notice of fees, or they are no longer entitled to a penny of your deposit. I, in good faith, call the complex to no avail.... no answer. I drive to the office with a letter informing them of the highlighted issues, and was out right told "there is nothing we can do for you, how do we know you didnt get a check". So trying to stay cool I asked for the amount of the check I should be expecting, and was told " I think you should leave" followed by a sharp "Get out"... About 3 days later I recieve a check for $ 400.00 with a list of bogus discrepancys ( Being overly thorough from living in 29 palms and going through those insane housing inspections, I took pictures before I left) I took all this info including my checkin/checkout sheet to Marine Corps Legal where I had to get a lawyer involved. To make a long story short, they cut me a check after a month for another $350.00 to shut me up and never was able to show a single charge or hit on our move out inspection. From my personal experience AVOID this place like the plague, the lawyer knew the name of the apartment, and the office manager instantly when I was in his office... This was not the first time they have tried to screw over military. So To all Marines and Sailors out there stay away from Sunset Pointe, and Sunset Terrace (owned by the same person)
