Stay Away At All Costs

Don't be fooled by the friendly appearance of managment when they give you the friendly tour of the nicely groomed display apartments. I know for a fact that they have a maitenance person come in at 7:00 in the morning every day to make sure that particular apartment looks picture perfect to fool potential renters to think this is what all the apartments look like. Myself and my two roommates have lived in this apartment for almost 8 months and there hasn't been a pleasant moment so far.

For starters, our shower head is far too short. I'm 5' 7" and the shower head is at eye level when turned at it's highest. It's not the greatest thing for me but its absolute torture for my roommate who's 6' 3". Our oven has been broken ever since we moved in. Anything we've ever put in there was burnt to flames within 5 minutes. We've contacted the office about this several times but nothing has been done about it. Soon after our 10th call we decided to give up and instead get fast-food every day. The door to my bedroom sticks which is bad because I share a room and I frequently come in late at night and it constantly wakes my roommate up when the door practically has to be kicked down to open. Internet here sucks to say the least. Myself and one of my roommates have wireless laptops and we have had constant problems with staying connected to the internet and even my other roommate who has his computer directly connected to the router has troubles staying connected.

The laundry room is completly impractical, it costs me almost $10 to do my laundry. On top of that the washing machines don't wash effectively and the dryers don't dry effectively. I had to throw away a couple of my t-shirts because some of them had molded over because they weren't dried properly and I didn't have enough money to put them in the dryer again. Thankfully this hasn't happened to me yet but I've had neighbors tell me that they've had their clothing stolen.

Parking is a nightmare in this apartment complex. If you have one car you'll be fine with a designated parking spot. If you have two, one will be fine while one may or may not have difficulty finding a spot. You may want to reconsider if you have three cars. The third person in the apartment is not granted access within the gated parking area which means there is very limited parking. The third person is guaranteed to be bombarded with parking tickets and towing fines month to month. The only legal parking in the area are the two parking lots for Alica Plaza and Alicia Village with about 40 or so legal spots and about 10 prospective resident spots available from 7pm to 8am, and a small strip of Stockport street that has legal parking for about 7 cars both ways. It sounds like a lot of parking, but guaranteed after 7pm every spot including the prospective resident spots are taken and people are starting to park in the handicap spots and red zones on Stockport. From that there is absolutly no legal parking whatsoever. The remainder of Stockport street is gated off and you have to have a permit to park there. The only "legal" parking is Wilkes Drive which has a red zone that you can park on between 6 am and 10 pm and even then it's a 4 - 5 minute walk from there to the apartment complex. The whole parking thing is completly shadey because all the people who have to find parking outside it are third persons in a rooming situation. There are people who don't use their designated spots and there are many empty spots in the gated area, but you have to have a parking permit to park in the gated area. My roommates thought it would be nice to let me borrow the designated spot because they'd both be out for the week during vacation and the next morning my car got towed. And they don't play around with towing either, it's the only thing they're very persistent about. They regularly tow every car thats in the prospective residents spot in the morning and every car in the gated area that doesn't have a permit. The towing company that they use is located out in Westminister which is a long drive from the apartment complex. And on top of all of this, even the gated area isn't safe. Both of my roommates have had things stolen out of their cars while parked in the gated area. One of my roommates even had his parking permit stolen out of his car, which led to him getting towed the next morning. My other roommate had $2000 worth of CD's and the Vehicle Manual stolen from his car. He informed the office and the local police department, but as expected, neither did anything beyond a report. My other roommate had his car damaged by the tree trimmers who ended up cutting a branch that landed on his car and damaging it. Neither the office nor the trimming services paid any sort of compensation even when he was told they would.

All in all, this apartment could possibly be the worst in the Laguna area. Despite it having much lower costs than other apartment complexes, it easily makes up for a very poor living environment.
