Parking: When we moved in, we were told we will have parking assigned and available for both of our cars. It turned out management sold more parking permits than parking spaces available. We were told that there are security cameras everywhere and the building will have two guards 24hrs a day. Five (5) cars were broken into in one night and thousands of dollars worth of personal belongings were stolen. Homeless people were and are still going into the building and pissing in the garage. Management has towed away cars in their assigned spaces. Noise: The building has not been well maintained. When buses go by the building, the windows rattle and open. Grounds: There is tagging all over the elevator. The dumpster had rats and roaches all over the place. The urine smell stays for days without anyone cleaning it up. Management promised to seal the floors before we moved in. It wasn't done until three months later. Management told us they were going to wash the windows. It took them over 6 months to get the windows washed. The tiles in the hallways are shattered or broken. The mopping is sloppy, leaving pockets of dirt in the corners and behind pipes. Safety: No security. When people asked for video tapes from the break-in, management did not supply any. The front door does not properly close properly at times. Management changes the code on the front door and does not notify the tenants, leaving people locked out of their own homes. Construction: The building is not up to electrical code and residences have gotten shocked as a result. All the appliances promised were not given to tenants. All the elevators were sealed but one. Pipes overhead were leaking. Some units have to run hot water for 10-15 mins before they can get hot water. Maintenance: As a condition of us moving in and taking over the unit, we had a list of items for them to repair. We gave them three months and still nothing was done. It wasn't until we complained to the people who own the building that they started to fix some of it. It was still a half-ass job. Staff: Don't get me started. They filed eviction papers to tenants who have complained and made it known that they are apart of the association. The day of trial, their own attorneys requested that the case be dismissed because the tenants had a good case against management. Tenants have had to spend thousands of dollars for attorney fees to fight their evictions. Tenants have gotten quit-or-pay notices even though they have made timely payments (because management either lost the check or couldn't properly balance a ledger). Tenants are being charged Common Area Maintenance fees and when asked for a breakdown of where it is going, they got "our attorney said we do not have to tell you." According to recent court rulings, they do have to. A tenant was constantly harassed by a member of management for a 50k loan and the improper exchange of favors. Others are not getting their deposits back and it turned out they are used to balance out "fees." Overall: Management's actions have been dishonest, disingenuous, threatening, and absolutely unpleasant. If this was one tenant speaking then I would doubt that person. But when you have over 10 units upset out of 30 units going through the exact issues(plus or minus a few units that management occupies), the problem is systemic. One positive side to living here is having amazing neighbors. I don't know about the other building, but tenants of 560 S Main St are supportive of one another and are good friends. We help each other out and back one another. We are here because we want to support our neighbors and will stick it through together. It is up to you to decide if you are willing to deal with all of this. Judge for yourself...
